Filing a complaint

REALTORS® strive to make every transaction a good experience for all involved. As professionals, our members subscribe to the highest Code of Ethics in our trade. When that occasional dispute does arise, REALTOR® members have agreed to cooperate in a grievance process that allows all the parties involved to present their case and defense.

Ombudsman Service

We encourage anybody considering filing a complaint to take advantage of the free C.A.R. Ombudsman Service. The Ombudsman have an adept understanding of the Code of Ethics and real estate regulation. This service often helps to resolve disagreements and disputes. Furthermore, this service is completely confidential. However, the Ombudsman are not attorneys or judges and cannot give legal advice.

Ethics Complaint Brochure

 The California Association of REALTORS® has created this document, which provides a general overview of the process and requirements of filing a complaint. Please review the information in this brochure before filing a complaint.

Code of Ethics Violation

In order to file a complaint, a potential complainant must identify one or more articles in the Code of Ethics that were violated by the REALTOR® Member.  
 

NSCAR Complaint Form

Once you have identified the article(s) that have been violated, you must complete the Complaint Form below and then submit it to the Local Association Professional Standards Administrator.
